Dear Mt. Vernon Community Members,

The Mt. Vernon Elementary Library NEEDS YOU! Grades Pre-K-4th grade come into the library every 30 minutes. Seventeen to twenty students are supposed to check in and check out a book and receive a short library lesson in that short time. It is impossible to accomplish this task with our limited staff. In addition, books need to be put back on the shelves, repaired if needed, and displayed to encourage readers. The library never sleeps. Reading is too important!

This is why the library is begging for your help! Here are some needs that you may be able to fill:

1. Community Readers

● Read to students a short book in the library.

● Become a Classroom Reading Pal and read to students while collaborating with a classroom teacher.

2. Library Assistant (Training Provided)

● Shelve books and Straighten Shelves

● Repair Books

● Create book displays

3. Library Programming

● Assist Mrs. Ramsay by brainstorming, designing, and implementing library programs to encourage readers.

● Community Liaison

Please contact Mrs. Ramsay at , 903-537-3700, ext. 9808

Thank you for making reading and Mt. Vernon children a priority!
