“Mr. Watson brings a deep understanding of Mount Vernon ISD and a
steady, relationship-focused leadership style,” said Board President
Leigh Anne Ramsay. “His experience across multiple roles in this
district and his commitment to accountability and student success make
him a strong fit to lead our schools.”
“I am honored to be named the lone finalist and to have the
opportunity to continue serving this community,” said Watson. “Mount
Vernon ISD is a special place, and I am committed to leading with
focus, consistency, and a clear vision that supports our students,
staff, and families.”

ISD, where he oversees district operations including human resources,
curriculum and instruction, campus leadership support, and policy
compliance. In this role, he has worked to align systems, strengthen
accountability, and support high-quality instruction across the
district.
Previously, Watson served as Director of Special Programs, overseeing
special education, dyslexia, bilingual/ESL, and Section 504 programs
while managing a $1.6 million budget. His work emphasized compliance,
fiscal responsibility, and ensuring students received the services

He also served as middle school principal, leading a campus of
approximately 500 students and 50 staff members, where he focused on
strengthening instructional practices and campus accountability.
Earlier in his career, he served as assistant principal, teacher, and
coach, building strong relationships throughout the district.

community. His leadership is grounded in clear communication, strong
relationships, and a commitment to supporting educators and improving
